Thanks for the fun times!
As some of you already know, today is my last day at 3eep/SportsPassion. It’s been an amazing journey and I’m already looking forward to my next adventure!
Here’s a few things I’ve learnt over the past few years in product management:
- Responding to the community is not the same as reacting to the community
- Good communication does not mean ‘I sent you an email’
- ‘Agile’ does not have to be fragile
- ‘Now’ means ‘now’, not later
- Managing remote teams is difficult, but it is a great way to learn about another culture
- If you’re not failing somewhere, you aren’t trying hard enough
- Extreme programming does not require a crash helmet
- Team bonding often occurs late at night (usually coinciding with server meltdowns or releases)
- ‘Ruby on Rails’ is not a new Mattel product (nor a porno)
- Just because you can use Photoshop, it doesn’t mean you know good design
- Metrics and site statistics are only part of the story
- People can hear when you are smiling
- When communicating with your legal team, the term ‘privileged’ comes in handy
- Sometimes it’s helpful to be a ‘jack of all trades’
- A ‘no-one leaves the building’ policy is handy around release time
So, before I sign off and head to #shtbox for drinks, a huge thanks to the following people:
Rob & Nick – Thanks for all your support. I appreciate the confidence you have in me and look forward to working with you again in the future.
To the team at Pollenizer… You know I love you guys (esp. Jon, Mick & Phil – but the rest of you rock too)! Thanks for all your wise words and advice. And Mick – thanks for ensuring focus and helping me define my path.
To the X-Minds team… It’s been a fun journey and I appreciate all your hard work over the last 2 years.
To the Exist/Sydneo team… You guys are truly awesome! Jason Torres – it was such a pleasure working with you and getting to know you! I hope to meet you and the team F2F one day
To @armyofdolls … Thanks for supporting me through the craziness. I hope to return the favour one day.
And to all the people I met with, leached ideas off, explored new ventures with, and especially to all the Product Mavens… you really inspired me to do so many, many, many things (not least of which included setting up Product Mavens and taking a last minute holiday to Thailand over Xmas!).
So who’s joining me for drinks?
Over and out.
Mishy
Ps. If you’re thinking that this post was inspired by @dekrazee1 then you are 100% right! Rai, you are the community queen & I wish you the best of luck for the future!

It’s been a pleasure.
I’ll definitely won’t forget our production release experiences. FUN and MEMORABLE times indeed!
Cheers!

I *clinked glasses* many times last night – Shame you guys weren’t there to celebrate!!!
@Rai – Hopefully I’ll see you at the next #pmm if not before
@Jason – Definitely many fun and memorable times! Looking forward to many more crazy times and late nights with my next project!
Take care,
Mishy
Mishy – thx for all your efforts in the past few years and for continually being a sane, balanced and measured influence over us all.
Really, really hope we do get to work together again on something, sometime.
Thanks for all the good times Mishy. Wishing you all the best for the future and everyone at Pollenizer will miss you.
PS: What’s next for Mishy? Anything in the works or taking a break?
@Rob – I have no doubt we’ll cross paths again soon!
@Oliver – No need to worry, I’ll still be dropping by to annoy you all from time to time
Still deciding which path I want to go down… so ‘watch this space’!
It’s been really great working with you all!!!
Nick Gonios
Michelle – it’s been a wonderful experience working with you. My ‘proactive’ and ‘nothing stops us NOW’ attitude has always been well balanced with your ‘we only have x resources and y time and we need to prioritise’ approach to working at 3eep
Have fun 2010!
Nick

In recent years the number of tools available to help you document and design your web site has just exploded. It seems that we all need a wireframing or prototyping tool at our fingertips (at least in the design arena). So in order to save you the hard work required to find one, I've assembled this list. It can be expanded upon, so if you use an unlisted application, please let me know and I’ll add it to the list.
The tools tend to fall into two categories:
* purpose-built applications
* multifunctional applications

All the very best to you too Mishy! Your next project will be privileged to have you on!
I’m kinda chuffed our last days coincided. I’ve always felt that we’ve been in it together, being in a similar situation with our community & product mix, working with remote teams and our love for Confluence and Jira.
I’ve always learnt something from our chats, and felt supported by you.
Here’s to us! *clinks glasses*
